Dallas is known to be very diverse. Having a wide variety of restaurants, clubs, suburbs, apartments, homes, hotels, festivals and community activities, any personality type can find something to enjoy in Dallas.

As a result of Dallas being such a diverse city, the people in Dallas are very diverse. The people of Dallas seem to have drastically differing opinions from one group to another.

The majority of people do agree in one subject. That subject is supporting the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboy games are almost always sold out, attracting thousands of fans. The Dallas Cowboys have become a mainstream part of this metropolitan Texas City.

This National Football League team was started in 1960 as an expansion team. Being an expansion team simply means that the National Football League allowed the Dallas Cowboys to become a part of the league.

The first year an expansion team plays they are expected to do poorly, because they are staffed with inexperienced players and staff. The owner of the team may face high startup fees and charges from the league, but many owners view these fees as an investment that will pay off in the long run.

During their start up year, the Cowboys were competing for the fans of Dallas with the Dallas Texans. The Texan team was a member of the American Football League, and had been the popular sports team for the city at the time.

The Texan’s had been playing for much longer than the Cowboys so their fan base was much wider. Lamar Hung was coaching the Texans and in 1963 he moved the team to Kansas City Missouri and the team eventually became the Chiefs.

The Cotton Bowl was quickly becoming an inadequate field for the Cowboys to play on, and finally in 1969 the ground was broken for a new stadium. The Texas Stadium was completed in the 1971 season in Irving, a suburb of Dallas.

Don Meredith and Don Perkins both retired after the 1968 season. Fortunately during the late 1960s and the early 1970s a group of crucial players joined the team.

The quarterback Craig Morton led the football team to their first Super Bowl. They played in Super Bowl V, losing to the Baltimore Colts.

The Cowboys only lost by three points after the Colt’s kicker Jim O’Brien made a field gold with only five seconds remaining in the game.

Having felt the victory of a Super Bowl slip so closely through their fingertips, the team came back the next season very determined. During the 1971 season the football team moved to play in the Texas Stadium.

Making it to Super Bowl VI the team was determined to play a better game than the year before. Matched up against the Miami Dolphins, the Texas team played a record setting game.

The Dolphins lost to the Cowboys 24-3. The Cowboys are still the only team in the NFL’s history to keep a team from getting a touchdown the whole game.

After winning the Super Bowl, the team naturally became more popular among the United States’ football watching citizens. Recruiting and signing fresh, up and coming talent enabled the team to make it to the 7th, 10th and 12th Super Bowls.

At the end of the 1970′s the Cowboys finished their season as the team with the most wins in the NFL. The 1980′s proved to be a rough season for the team and they never made it to the Super Bowl.

After a coach change and a revamping of the team the Cowboys were finally back on track. The team came back to win Super Bowls XXVII, XVIII and XXX.

The team of football players has had a great number of ups and downs over the years. Coaching changes and player changes all contribute to the volatility in the winning percentage for each season.

In 2009 the team faced tribulations that had nothing to do with the coaching staff or the change of players. On May 2nd, the team was practicing in their practice facility when the facility collapsed.

Although everyone lived there were major injuries and the team had to join together to overcome the trial. Although some of the injuries left permanent damage, the team joined together to move on with their careers.

This football team means a lot more to the people in Dallas than any other team. If you are choosing to relocate to Dallas and want to find an easy way to make friends and start to socialize becoming a fan of the football team might be the best way to meet people and enjoy their company.
