Austin Texas is a booming metropolitan city with activities and events for all residents and visitors. No matter your background or your preferences you will be able to find something to do in this city.
Known as the live music capital of the world, Austin Texas has over 200 venues for live music performances. The city is constantly buzzing with up and coming artists, today’s most popular artists and the classic artists.
This city is a city unlike any other. The motto “Keep Austin Weird” is well known throughout the whole area.
This weirdness apparently stems from the wide variety of cultures that meet in this city. You can find honky-tonks, barbecues and art communities.
Many commend the city as having its own “Austin culture”. This culture is accepting and accommodating to a wide variety of people.

Barton Springs is a natural spring pool that stays at a cool 68 degrees year-round. The park is three acres in size, and the pool is fed from underground springs.
The pool itself is three acres in size. This enormous pool was formed millions of years ago when a land shift created the Balcones Fault.
Before the Americans discovered and began to visit this vast pool the Native Americans called the pool their Sacred Springs and they visited the water to heal their wounds.
The pool has become an integral part of the city. Do not be surprised if you visit and see baptisms, family picnics, social gatherings, musical performances, swimming and fishing taking place in the pool and on the shores of the pool.
For such a large attraction the price of admittance is extremely small. Seniors and children are only one dollar, juniors are two dollars and adults are three dollars.

The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum tells visitors the story of how Texas came to be Texas. With three floors of interactive exhibits, a special effects show and Austin’s only IMAX theatre this History Museum is a very exciting place to visit.
When you approach the building you first see a 35-foot-tall bronze Lone Star. The museum celebrates the uniqueness of Texas through the story of its development.
Part of Texas’ uniqueness comes from its capitol building. This building hosts more than 1 million visitors per year.
The building was completed in 1886 and is the largest capitol building in square footage. This building even surpasses the national Capitol building in height by 14 feet.
Another popular attraction is the warehouse and Sixth Street entertainment districts. This area has a wide variety of dance clubs, live music venues, restaurants and bars.
Whether you are looking to salsa dance or you are looking for a dueling piano bar, this area of downtown is where you will find it. If you are not sure what you are looking for, but you want to be sociable and have fun you can just meander down these few blocks.
Texas may be the only state in which you can find millions of bats and thousands of humans all hanging out under the same bridge. The people here do not run from the bats, but instead celebrate that Austin is home to the largest urban colony of Mexican free-tail bats in North America.
There are usually at least 1.5 million bats hanging under the bridge. Every night at sunset the bats start to leave for the night and their departure is what causes the nightly spectacle that people gather to watch.
Whether you are looking to more to Austin or you just want to visit Austin will not disappoint. If you are looking for a quiet, calm or uneventful vacation or place of residence Austin is not the place for you.
